You’re the hero. We’re the sidekick.
Strengths-based coaching, mentoring and youth work for young people in Hull and the East Riding: building engagement and independence, and amplifying their voice.
→ Our why tap to open
- Because refusal is information, not a fault.
- Not being in employment, education or training is a point in time, not a fixed position or a choice.
- Health services for young people are stretched, and when triage is a phone call a young person isn’t ready to face, support can end.
- Missing appointments, or a series of them, can end support too. Nobody sets out for that.
- So we stand next to the young person, work out what they want and need, and become that: a mentor, a youth worker, a coach, a guide through housing and work.
- Every person already has strengths, what we call plot armour, and our job is to help them see it and use it.
- We are the sidekick to the sidekicks too: the parents, carers and professionals already beside them.
- We want to do it differently. That’s why.
Sidecic, said Sidekick
Side
As in side by side: next to you, by your side, never in front. You’re the hero; we’re the sidekick.
CIC
A community interest company: a company set up for the good of the community, not for anyone’s profit. What is a CIC? (GOV.UK)
A community interest company that is interested in the community.
- Youth and community work is our passion, and our job.
- Any profit is reinvested into community good. By law, our money can only ever be used for our community purpose.
- We are building a community pot, so we can offer free sessions to people whose circumstances make them harder to fund.
- We build free tools, like Focus and Revise, for anyone to use.
Who we stand beside
- The hero: a young person aged 11 to 25 in Hull or the East Riding.
- Their sidekicks: parents, carers, teachers, youth workers and nurses. We back them too.
- Our associates: paid properly, supervised and looked after.
- The community: the pot, and the partners we work alongside.

How we work
We start with what you’re already good at.
We do something together, side by side: a walk, the gym, a bus route.
One step at a time, and you set the step.
We change hats to fit: mentor, youth worker, coach, or guide through housing and work.
Every price is on show, and our books are open.
